LSI came to us looking for an engineering firm to develop a commercial lighting fixture which would utilize a new, extremely efficient, metal halide T4 bulb. We developed a die cast aluminum housing and bezel design, which provided such consistent dimensions that we were able to mount the reflector in the front half (bezel) of the fixture for the first time. This makes it a snap (literally) to swap a spot reflector for a flood, add a filter, or change a bulb (about every 5 years). We also engineered the casting to efficiently pull heat out of the bulb holder. This design resulted in lower temperatures at the bulb, which means longer bulb life and less maintenance. The Serpentine is beautiful, efficient to manufacture, easy to install, simple to maintain, and the best selling product in LSI’s impressive catalog.
